Pamplona Food city tour

DESCRIPTION

Traditionally Pinchos were a slice of bread with some cheese or chorizo on top: add an olive, anchovy, or pickled pepper for good measure, and skewer the whole thing on a cocktail stick, known as the ‘Gilda’ and you had your classic Pincho. Now, they’ve evolved into sophisticated, creative and appetising bites of food you can enjoy in two or three mouthfuls.

The City & Pinchos Tour starts with a walk in the old part of Pamplona. The city has been inhabited since the 5th century BC due to its strategic position over the river. You’ll discover the origins of Pamplona and the Saint James Way (El Camino).

In City Hall square you’ll learn how three burghs or cities were subdivided until Pamplona was finally unified as one city in 1423 by King Charles III. The City Hall was built on the spot all three cities intersected!

We’ll walk the old streets where the infamous Running of the Bulls takes place each year, and will hear about the San Fermin festival’s origins, history and traditions.

Afterwards we’ll introduce you to the city’s finest pinchos. One of Pamplona’s longstanding traditions is the ‘chiquiteo’ where you hop from bar to bar with small drinks of wine accompanied by these tasty bite-sized pinchos. We’ll visit up to three different bars and try six different pinchos accompanied by carefully-matched wines. For many, this is an adequate lunch or dinner.

We need a minimum of 2 people for the tour.
