DESCRIPTION

This ancient tradition dates back to the 12th century, although the first recorded bullfight in Pamplona was held in 1385. A path through the streets was needed in order to bring the bulls from outside of the town into the bullring, which was located in the center of the town. The Encierro happened early in the morning when nobody was around but as local people started running in front of the bulls it became very popular. As the local authorities didn’t like people running it was banned for a few years although people brought it back to the festival program.

Enjoy a breakfast while we tell you all you want to know about the ancient ritual, origins, history and traditions.

The Running of the Bulls happens every morning at 8.00 am from 7th July to 14th July, both dates included. You need to be at your assigned balcony at approximately 7.15 a.m.
