The Running of the Bulls festival also known as the San Fermin festival or ‘sanfermines’ if you want to sound like a local is one of the best-known festivals in the world, largely thanks to American writer Ernest Hemingway. His novel ‘Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises’, published in 1926, described the festival, bullfights, and running of the bulls in such a glamourous, romantic way, that many fans of the book had to come and experience the city for themselves.

The festival begins at noon on 6th July and keeps going 24-hours a day until midnight on 14th July. The dates are always the same from year to year.

At its heart, San Fermin is a street festival; mixing people, bulls, music and the symbolic white and red colours that everyone wears. The golden rule is ‘Enjoy yourself and let the rest of people do the same.’

We can try and explain to you what it’s all about, but you’ll truly only understand it when you experience it.

You will also discover that in Pamplona, and its region, everything revolves around the table. Gastronomy is a fundamental part of our culture, our day-to-day life, and even our leisure time. A common practice in the city is the ‘txikiteo’ or hopping from bar to bar with small drinks of wine accompanied by nouvelle cuisine bites called pintxos. Join us and we will show you how to do it Pamplona-style!
